Lopez, Sorenstam, Ochoa and Pak to assist mark inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur with unique first-tee rite

A week eliminated from the hole tee shot inside the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The seventy-two competitors within the discipline now have a glimpse of what they’re playing for. World Golf Hall of Famer Nancy Lopez, at the side of ANWA contributors Sierra Brooks and Maria Fassi, helped unveil the bowl so that it will be handed to the winner on April 6 at some stage in an appearance on the Today Show” on Wednesday morning. It was part of a New York City media excursion to help promote the brand-new event. The bowl was designed in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. and crafted from spun sterling silver and a 24K yellow gold vermeil. Among the design accents are the event’s emblem and the namesake plants for each hollow at Augusta National.
The women’s game has developed in so many meaningful ways since I started playing, and this championship marks another great milestone to assist in inspiring interest and developing the sport,” Lopez said. It’s genuinely exciting to see those young ladies take the degree in one of golf’s most iconic settings, and I look forward to supporting the event.
Lopez will experience the tournament firsthand as she, along with Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa, and Se Ri Pak, was invited to assist in celebrating the championship’s launch. The foursome will be featured guests at a gamers-only function on April 5 and will participate in a special first-tee ceremony to start the event’s final round on April 6.
The opposition starts with 36 holes at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans, Ga., on April 3 and four. The subject will then be reduced to the low 30 gamers, and the final 18 holes can be contested at Augusta National. However, to ensure everyone in the subject got to play Augusta National, all competitors will get to play a professional exercise round on April five in advance of the remaining 18 holes on April 6, to be televised on NBC.
